Superintendent

To be considered for this role, applicants must have at least five (5) years of experience as a commercial construction superintendent, and at least one (1) year of experience as a superintendent in an active hospital or healthcare setting.  Previous work experience with infection control, noise control, and JCAHO is required.  Ground up experience is preferred but not required.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Schedule subcontractors and vendors to ensure timely completion of all projects 

  • Responsible for quality control over the work being performed 

  • Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental standards and addresses any non-compliance issues immediately 

  • Coordinate required inspections with all local jurisdictions and agencies 

  • Communicate with project team, including owners, architects, engineers, and project management regarding status of project 

  • Able to identify challenges or constraints throughout project and resolve efficiently and completely 

  • Ensure project plans and budget are followed and work is proceeding as expected 

  • Maintain daily log of activities on the jobsite 

  • Run daily meetings designed to efficiently coordinate work 

  • Participate in weekly meetings with owners, architects and contractors 

  • Ensure that the job site is always kept in a clean, safe, and organized manner 

  • Obtain permits and approvals for any project plan revisions 

  • Identify areas of work that are outside of subcontracted scope and notify project management

The Project Superintendent is solely responsible for and will be held accountable for the timely completion of the project and ensuring that the project is constructed in strict accordance with plans, budgets, specifications, and local codes.  Conflicts or revisions to any project plans shall be communicated to the project team for resolution, prior to execution of work that deviates from the approved plans. The Superintendent shall establish and enforce job site safety and quality control programs to ensure quality completion of construction.  Superintendent shall supervise all subcontractors, consultants, and vendors at the job site on a daily basis. This supervision shall ensure adequate manpower is available for each task and compliant work is performed.  

 All applicants must possess the following characteristics and skills: 

  • 4-Year College Degree 

  • Ability to identify deficient work and provide a quick and agreeable resolution 

  • Experience using technology to create efficiencies on a day to day basis.  Must have experience with: 

    • PC laptop and Windows operating system

    • Smart phones 

    • Communication via email, phone calls, and text messages

    • Utilizing a cloud based shared drive 

    • Microsoft Project (minimum 1 year experience) 

    • Procore (preferred, but not required) 

  • Multiple years of experience in reading and applying blueprints and plans 

  • Physically able to lift up to 100 pounds, stoop, kneel, climb, and balance as needed 

  • Endurance and ability to visit multiple job sites in one day, both indoor and outdoor; this may include stairs or other elevated structures 

  • Ability to remain calm and level-headed during high pressure situations 

  • Focuses on solving problems – complaints, blame, and gossip are not part of our company culture 

  • Speaks clearly and persuasively in both positive and challenging situations 

  • Contributes to a positive team morale, and supports everyone’s efforts to succeed 

  • Treats others with respect at all times
